FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A mentoring program for at-risk children attending East Allen County Schools (EACS) will be getting a boost.

An agreement between the school district and Allen Superior Court will let the Check and Connect program add two more case managers, according to the Journal Gazette.

$30,000 in Safe Haven funds will be used to pay for the part-time positions, one of which will be at Heritage High School, the other at New Haven Middle School.

The Check and Connect program’s director says it reaches out to students who may not make the right decisions on their own, or who are having problems with truancy.
