EACS Tax Rate May Drop

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): The tax rate for East Allen County Schools could be going down next year.

Business manager Kirby Stahly told the Journal Gazette that they're still evaluating figures of the district's $83 million budget, but they expect a lower tax levy. That means if you're home is valued at $150,000, the homeowner would pay about $20 less next year.

However there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to planning the budget. They said the district may have to make additional cuts in full time workers hours or even downsize because of Obamacare. Also in 2017 the districts debt will start to drop from $7 million to under $3 million by 2021.
