Fatal Crash In Williams County Under Investigation ​

Montpelier, Ohio. (WOWO) — The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a tragic two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on County Road I in Superior Township, Williams County, on the morning of January 6, 2026. ​

The incident took place at approximately 7:27 a.m. when a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by a juvenile, was traveling eastbound on County Road I. ​

The vehicle struck the rear of a parked 2007 Chevrolet Silverado in the eastbound lane. ​

Following the collision, the Cobalt veered into the westbound lane, where it struck 64-year-old David L. Fox of Edon, who had exited his vehicle for reasons yet to be determined. ​

Mr. Fox was pronounced dead at the scene. ​

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County EMS, Williams County Coroner’s Office, Williams County Engineer’s Office, Montpelier Fire Department, and John’s Towing & Repair. ​

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
