Fatal Indianapolis Bus Crash Reports Delayed

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis police say the release of reports into a fatal Indianapolis church bus crash will be delayed until at least next week.

Spokesman Kendale Adams said Wednesday evening that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's accident investigations unit is still gathering evidence. He says that will delay the release of a crash report and an inspection report by another week.

The bus owned by Colonial Hills Baptist Church crashed into a concrete median July 27 while bringing dozens of teenagers and chaperones home from a youth camping trip in Michigan. The crash killed a youth minister, his pregnant wife and a camper's mother and injured 33 other passengers.

Driver Dennis Maurer has told police the brakes failed as the bus left Interstate 465 on Indianapolis' north side.
