INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ An attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services is becoming the state's new public access counselor.
 
The governor's office announced Thursday that Gov. Mike Pence had picked Luke Britt for the position, which reviews disputes from the public, government officials and journalists about the state's public records and open meetings laws.
 
Britt has been as a litigation attorney for the Department of Child Services and previously worked at the state health department and for a Greenwood law firm.
 
Britt's appointment begins Monday for a term ending in June 2015.
 
He replaced Joe Hoage, who became access counselor in 2011 and is becoming the chief legal counsel for the Department of Natural Resources.
