Former Dog Warden Faces Prison Time

VAN WERT, Ohio. (WOWO): The former Van Wert County Dog Warden will spend time in jail after severely neglecting animals at the county animal shelter.

According to our partners in news at 21Alive, Richard Strunkenberg will spend 90 days in jail and three years on probation.

Officers investigated the Van Wert County shelter last July and found three dead dogs and six dead cats in their cages. The animals were not given food or water, and were living in their own waste.

Strunkenberg plead guilty to two felony counts and the Van Wert County Sheriff's Department will begin managing the shelter sometime this year.
