Fort Wayne Man Convicted in Legion Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man is convicted in a fatal shooting at an American Legion post in June. The Allen County jury convicted Eric Smith yesterday of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Authorities say Smith shot Jabron Totton during a confrontation in the parking lot of the legion post after it closed in the early hours of June 9th. One witness testified about talking with Smith as the post closed, then hearing gunshots and seeing Totton fall as Smith walked away in the neighborhood just east of the city's downtown. Smith faces 45 to 65 years in prison on the murder conviction.
