FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man accused of stabbing his mother to death has been formally charged with murder.

40-year-old Cordell Hughes was arrested last week for the death of 60-year-old Carmen Hughes and was officially charged in Allen County Monday. Her body was found by family members in her south-side apartment with multiple stab wounds.

Court documents say her body was found on a chair in her bedroom, with blood on the walls and around her neck.

Cordell Hughes told police he hadn’t been to her apartment for weeks, but police say he also changed his story several times during the investigation.
