Fort Wayne Plan Commission to examine three housing proposals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There are three proposals for low-income housing in Fort Wayne set for a public hearing next week.

Monday night the Fort Wayne Plan Commission will be hearing details on a new site for the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, the Scholar House Development on Plaza Drive, and new wording for an affordable housing plan for the southeast side of town, according to the Journal Gazette.

WOWO news first told you about the Rescue Mission’s move to Washington Blvd early last month. Their new site needs to be rezoned by the Plan Commission before development can begin.

The Scholar House project looks to build 44 apartments and a daycare.

They’ll also take testimony on an upscale project on Rothman Road, called “the Coves of Cherry Hill,” which will be near the Cherry Hill Golf Course.

The meeting starts at 6pm at Citizens Square, and is open to the public.
