Gary Air Show Cancelled

GARY, Ind (WOWO): Organizers of the South Shore Air Show in Gary say this year’s event has been canceled because of federal budget cuts.

Organizers call it another sequester cut crash-and-burn. The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority President says the cuts meant the show would have had to pay for air traffic controllers to present aerial demonstrations by aircraft such as F-22 fighter jets.

Nearly 40 other air shows throughout the nation have canceled for the same reason.
