GM Facility Vote Faces Uncertain Future

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We may finally find out what will happen with a proposed truck and rail hub for Allen County's General Motors plant this week…

Or not.

Crown Enterprises of Warren, Michigan has been trying to get the Allen County Plan Commission to approve a proposal to build a truck and rail hub north of the General Motors plant near Fort Wayne… but they've been met with opposition by residents of the area that say the facility would cause traffic problems and violates County zoning policies.

The Allen County Plan Commission is expected to vote on the facility Thursday, but the Journal Gazette reports that the latest documents for the planned facility might be different enough to make another public hearing necessary. Residents living in the area have been very outspoken about the proposal, citing traffic concerns.

Another stumbling block is a new proposal from another developer to build a similar facility south of the GM plant, as opposed to this one, which is situated to the north.

The Commission's agenda for their next meeting will be released this afternoon.
