INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence issued the following statement Tuesday afternoon, on the passing of Corporal Jordan Lee Spears of Memphis, Indiana, who lost his life in the line of duty in the North Arabian Gulf on October 1, 2014.

“I was saddened to hear that Corporal Jordan Spears was killed in the line of duty last week. This fine young man is a hero to all Hoosiers, and I offer my sincerest condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and fellow Marines during this difficult time. I am grateful for Corporal Spears’ service to his country. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
