BROWNSBURG, Ind. (AP) – The candidates for Indiana governor say agriculture is a key to the state’s economy.

Republican Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb and Democrat John Gregg told an Indiana Farm Bureau forum Tuesday that they side with rural interests on matters such as property taxes and annexation by cities.

Both Holcomb and Gregg also said expanding broadband service into rural parts of the state would be a top priority if either one is elected the state’s next governor.

The two and Libertarian Rex Bell discussed agriculture issues at a farm near the western Indianapolis suburb of Brownsburg. About 200 people attended the event.
