FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Parkview Health leaders broke ground on a new primary care clinic in northeast Fort Wayne on Tuesday afternoon.

The new clinic will be located at 5693 YMCA Drive West, which is located off of St. Joe Center Road west of Maplecrest.

The clinic will be a “patient-centric” facility featuring exam rooms, e-visit exam rooms concierge-style check-in areas, lab services and x-ray services.

President and CEO of Parkview Health Mike Packnett said the building was designed “inside out.” Meaning the inside of the building will be the heart of the building and was the heart of the design.

There will be 18 exam rooms, which were designed so almost everything can be done in the room. The doctor and patient will be able to share a screen in the room. Every exam room will also be exactly the same. Dr. Joshua Kline says this will create a more efficient atmosphere.

“As a community-owned healthcare provider, Parkview’s focus is outward, on the needs of the people in our communities. It’s about investing in those communities to make sure we can be relied upon for years to come,” Packnett said. “We are excited to give the residents of northeast Allen even greater access to Parkview Physicians Group and their trusted team of caregivers.”

The Northeast Clinic will also have a therapist on staff. The therapist will assistant patients with coping skills and counseling.

“Primary care is often the first encounter patients have with Parkview Health and it’s important to us that our care team is dependable and forward-thinking in their approach to healthcare,” said Mark Kadlec, Chief Operating Officer of Parkview Physicians Group. “We look forward to expanding our reach here in Allen County and also evaluating other locations where we can create similar innovative environments for delivering care.”

The clinic is expected to open in November 2016.
