Heritage High School student killed in crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Heritage High School student was killed and five others were injured in a crash Friday afternoon.

Our Partners in News at ABC 21 report a car carrying six students from the high school flipped over in the 9100 block of Wayne Trace between Maples Rd and Vallyd Acre Drive at around 3:15 p.m.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office says 17-year-old male student Ar Zi Za La of Fort Wayne died from blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash. His death was ruled accidental.

One person is in serious condition, another in critical condition, and three suffered minor injuries in the crash at last report.

Witnesses told Allen County Sheriff’s Department deputies it appeared two cars were street racing. That’s when one of the cars collided with a box truck after a curve then flipped and landed in a ditch.

The other car was able to swerve out of the way of the truck.

The crash is still under investigation.
