Holcomb raises $7.7M with big boost from GOP governors group

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb’s campaign says it has raised nearly $7.7 million since he became the Republican candidate for Indiana governor in July.

Holcomb’s campaign said Thursday it has $2.8 million in the bank heading into the Nov. 8 election.

Holcomb had to quickly launch a campaign after Gov. Mike Pence dropped his re-election bid to become Donald Trump’s running mate.

Holcomb has had major help: $3.3 million from the Republican Governors Association and $1.25 million from Pence’s campaign represent nearly 60 percent of his contributions.
Democratic candidate John Gregg hasn’t released fundraising totals for the three-month period through September.

Gregg had $5.8 million in cash at the end of June and has since received $1.3 million from the Democratic Governors Association and at least $1 million from labor unions.
