State Excise Police Arrest 71 in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Indiana State Excise Police says a weekend crackdown in Muncie resulted in 71 arrests, mostly on alcohol-related charges.

They say they arrested 24 people Saturday on 39 charges including resisting law enforcement, illegal possession of alcohol, furnishing alcohol to a minor, possession of a false ID and false statement of age.

That followed the Friday arrests of 47 people on 49 charges, including illegal possession of alcohol, false statement of age and resisting law enforcement. Four adults were charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

The arrests came the weekend before Monday's start of fall classes at Ball State University in Muncie.
