Home Alarm Scam Targeting Hoosiers

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Another scam targeting Hoosiers, and this one is hitting close to home. Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says there's a growing number of calls and door-to-door solicitation for home security and alarm systems.

His office has received dozens of reports of unwanted calls and automated calls from an illegal out-of-state company. The attorney general says consumers should always be cautious of unsolicited calls or home visits.

The sales pitch is a high pressure push to convince you to purchase an expensive system. Zoeller advises, if you are registered on the Do Not Call list its a good idea just to hang up. If you encounter similar tactics, you can file a report at www.IndianaConsumer.com
