FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A homeless man who died in Fort Wayne got a military funeral Wednesday.

69-year-old John Pawlowski died of septic shock on March 5th. The Allen County Coroner’s Office found out afterward that he was a veteran of the US Army, but had no family, according to the Journal Gazette.

So the American Legion, members of Fort Wayne’s Safe Haven home for Veterans, and other local groups stepped forward to make sure he was buried with military honors at Lindenwood Cemetery.
