Indiana Fairgrounds Coliseum Getting New Name

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): The Indiana State Fairground Coliseum is getting a new name.

The Indiana State Fair Commission and the Indy Fuel Hockey Club scheduled a news conference with executives of an undisclosed Indiana company regarding naming rights for the refurbished arena. It reopened in April after $63 million in improvements that kept it closed for 18 months.

The 75-year-old arena was known as Pepsi Coliseum from 1991 until the soft-drink company's contract ended in 2012. Fairgrounds officials said in July they expected the new naming-rights deal to be more lucrative than the $170,000 a year that Pepsi paid.

Besides hosting the Fuel, the coliseum also is the home for IUPUI's basketball teams.
