BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ The state of Indiana has started a program to set up trail cameras in an effort to gather information on wildlife.
Snapshot IN lets people with more than 10 acres of land volunteer to install a trail camera. The program started in September and is in its pilot year. So far there are about 75 trail cameras.
The first cameras went up in September, and Shawn Rossler with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the project has been extended to go through October. He says officials hope to turn it into a long-term project.
The (Bloomington) Herald-Times reports the program's goal is to determine how various wildlife species are distributed throughout Indiana.
