WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): A woman is recovering after being shot in the foot by a dog. Yes, a dog.
25 year old Allie Carter of Avilla was hunting waterfowl Saturday morning at around 10 AM at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area northeast of Warsaw.
DNR officials say she laid her 12 gauge shotgun at her feet and her chocolate Labrador retriever, ironically named Trigger, stepped on the trigger and shot Carter in her left foot at point blank range. She was eventually transferred to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with injuries to her left foot and toes.
DNR officials say Carter, who never has completed a hunter education course, did not have the safety on. DNR officials say accidents like this should be reminders to point the muzzle in a safe direction and to take a hunter safety course.
