Indiana Troopers Give Bus Crash Probe to Indy Police

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The cause of a fatal church bus crash in Indianapolis could be revealed later this week.

A bus owned by Colonial Hills Baptist Church crashed July 27 while bringing church members home from a summer camp. The crash killed a youth minister and his pregnant wife and a chaperone. Other passengers were injured.
 
WTHR-TV reported Tuesday that Indiana State Police have turned over the results of their inspection of the bus and its braking systems to the Indianapolis Metro Police Department, which will compile the final report. WTHR says IMPD expects to release the completed crash and inspection report later this week.
 
Driver Dennis Maurer has told polis the brakes failed as the bus was exiting Interstate 465 on Indianapolis' north side and hit a concrete median.
