Indianapolis Bus Crash Blamed on Speed

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Investigators are blaming this summer's Indianapolis church bus crash that killed three people on it going too fast on an interstate exit ramp.

Indianapolis television stations report that state police inspectors found no mechanical problems with the bus. The driver told police following the July 27 crash that the bus' brakes suddenly failed before it crashed into a retaining wall and overturned just off an Interstate 465 exit.

About 30 others on the Colonial Hills Baptist Church were hurt as it was returning from a youth camping trip in Michigan. The crash killed the church's youth pastor, his pregnant wife and a camper's mother.

Church Deacon Jeff Leffew asks for continued prayers for the bus driver who continues recovering from his injuries.
