GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) _ Police say a flight instructor and a student pilot were hurt when a small plane crashed in a farm field just south of Indianapolis.
Greenwood assistant police chief Matthew Fillenwarth says both men were conscious and talking when emergency workers arrived Tuesday morning at the scene a couple miles east of the Greenwood Municipal Airport. Both were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash tore off the single-engine plane's nose and damaged its tail and wings, but it came to a stop upright on its wheels.
Fillenwarth tells the Daily Journal the plane was from the airport's flight school.
He tells WRTV that the instructor told officers the engine lost power soon before the crash.
