Investigation underway after two found shot to death in Ligonier

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – A Fort Wayne man has been arrested after police found two people dead in Ligonier Monday night.

Police say the shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Water Street. Police found a man on the sidewalk and a woman inside the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

During a preliminary investigation, a witness provided information regarding a possible suspect and suspect vehicle. The information was dispatched, and the LaGrange Police Department located a vehicle matching the description a short time later.

The vehicle wouldn’t pull over during an attempted traffic stop, and after a pursuit, the driver, identified as Michael Johnson of Fort Wayne, was arrested. Johnson is booked at the Noble County Jail.

Two other persons of interested were located in Kendallville and Fort Wayne, and taken into custody for questioning.

No further information is available at this time, but police are currently seeking search warrants for those involved in the incident.

A brief press conference is scheduled for 11:30 Tuesday at the Ligonier Police Department.
