IU Southeast Campus All Clear after Gun Sighting

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) _ Police have issued an all clear after searching Indiana University Southeast following reports of an armed person on campus.

The university issued an alert Thursday on its website and sent emails and text messages telling students and staff to take shelter in the nearest available room and lock doors.

IU spokesman Mark Land says the report came in just before 3 p.m. and the alerts followed shortly thereafter. The all-clear went out about an hour later.

Land says an area of the compact campus was cordoned off while police conducted a search.

IU's emergency management team reports there is no threat to campus.
