KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) _ Kokomo is planting 400 trees by the end of this month in an effort to improve the appearance of the central Indiana city.
The Kokomo Tribune reports 2,700 trees have been planted in the city since 2008. That number will rise to over 3,000 by the end of this month. Thanks to Indiana's Community & Urban Forestry Department, the city recently received the 400 trees to plant in places like Foster Park.
Kokomo parks superintendent Randy Morris says the donation of trees came at a great time for the city. Morris says many trees are nearing the end of their lifespan in Kokomo's parks.
