NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ An Indiana judge has sentenced an Alabama man to 55 years for fatally stabbing his 2-year-old son at his parents' central Indiana home.

Hamilton County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Andre Miksha confirmed the sentence Wednesday.

Micah Harrison of Robertson, Ala., was sentenced about two weeks after he pleaded guilty but mentally ill as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

Harrison begged the judge to kill him at his initial hearing in January 2013.

Prosecutors say Harrison stabbed his son, Michael, in the chest with a kitchen knife and in the forehead with a nail-pulling tool at his parents' Noblesville apartment in January 2013.

The boy's mother said Harrison took Michael and two daughters without her permission.
