LAGRANGE, Ind. (WOWO): It turns out the LaGrange police officer who shot at a suspect’s vehicle during a pursuit last week was recently awarded a Department Commendation and Lifesaving Award.

The officer is identified as Nicolas Dubea, according to a statement obtained by ABC-57. He’s been with the LaGrange Police Department for eight years and is currently the department’s K-9 handler.

Back in June, Dubea received the awards after a home invasion in LaGrange County where shots were fired by the suspects in the home while the family members were inside. Dubea was one of two responding officers who arrested three suspects.

Leaders with the LaGrange Police Department call Dubea a positive officer for the town.

The Indiana State Police is currently investigating the police pursuit and shooting. The suspect, 23-year-old Cesar Felipe Jaramillo-Moreno, was not struck by any of the bullets.
