INDIANA, (WOWO): The flu virus death toll so far this season now stands at 97 in Indiana. The State Department of Health released its latest figures Friday.

They say 93 of the deaths occurred in those over the age of 50. Counties with five or more associated deaths include: Allen, Hamilton, Kosciusko, Lake, Marion, St. Joseph and Tippecanoe. This comes as the nation enters the height of flu season. Doctors still recommend flu shots for those who can get them despite reports citing they're only about 23% effective due to a strain not well covered this year.
