Lutheran Hospital Presents Plans To Expand Downtown Campus

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another major expansion is taking shape for a local hospital.

Lutheran Hospital has approached the Fort Wayne Board of Zoning Appeals in order to expand their 7950 W. Jefferson Blvd. campus. The News Sentinel reports that plans would call for three new medical office buildings and also expanding two existing parking structures.

The application would need to be considered at a public hearing, scheduled for September 17th. In part, the expansion needs permission because it would exceed normal height limits in the “airport overlay,” as the district intends to minimize obstructions with the Fort Wayne International Airport.

Lutheran spokesman Geoff Thomas tells the News Sentinel that they're looking out fire to seven years in the future. The new four-story office will contain 125,000 square feet of space, a five story building, three story office and two stories extra to the parking structure.
