Man dies after being found shot at local gas station

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man has died after being found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound at a local station.

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department tell WOWO News that around 1:45 a.m., Wednesday, several people called dispatch to report a man lying in the middle of the road near the Marathon gas station located at 4226 South Lafayette Street near South Clinton Street.

Once officers arrived, they found the victim unresponsive and he appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s).  He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but he was shortly after pronounced dead.

It’s unknown if the shooting took place in the gas station parking lot or if the victim drove to the gas station after being shot.

Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video from the area and collecting evidence. They’re asking that if you know anything about this incident to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
