Man Faces Felony Confinement and Rape Charges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man has been charged with raping a woman and later, not allowing her to leave his home.

52-year-old Steven Byrde is now facing felony charges of rape, criminal confinement, battery, and strangulation.

The woman said she knew Byrde, who would not let her leave his home for two to three days. She added that when she would try and leave, Byrde restrained her.

The woman also testified that she was raped as least twice and finally escaped, making her way to a nearby home for help. Byrde was not in custody as of Thursday evening.
