Man found in Lakeside Park Pond identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the Fort Wayne man whose body was found in the pond at Lakeside Park last week.

28-year-old Deonte Antone Cooper was pulled from the pond at about 10:00 a.m. last Thursday morning, after a large amount of rainfall led to flash flooding in portions of Fort Wayne.

Cooper was one of two bodies recovered from area bodies of water, but officials haven’t said if the flooding was a factor in either death. The other was 34-year-old Paul Ledesma, whose body was found in the Maumee River near the Tecumseh Street Bridge.

The cause and manner of death are still under investigation by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Fort Wayne Police Department, and Allen County Prosecutor’s and Coroner’s Offices.
