Man Missing in Lake Michigan After Falling Overboard from Boat

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Indiana Conservation Officers are searching for a man that fell overboard from a boat on Lake Michigan near Indiana Dunes State Park. Yesterday afternoon, Amer Rustum 54, of IL and friends were anchored about 20 yards off the Indiana Dunes State Park shoreline. At 5:45 p.m., Rustum fell overboard while the group was preparing to leave the area.

Shortly after Rustum disappeared in the water, emergency crews arrived on scene and began a surface search. Indiana Conservation Officers joined the search utilizing a remote operated vehicle (ROV) to perform an underwater search where Rustum allegedly disappeared in the water.

The USCG and Conservation Officers worked into the evening hours but did not locate Rustum at this time. Conservation Officers returned to the scene this morning at 7:30 a.m., continuing to search with the ROV.
