Man says he fatally shot son after headbutt…

MARTINSVILLLE, Ind. (AP) – A central Indiana man told authorities he fatally shot his son after being headbutted, causing him to fall down the stairs, but a probable cause affidavit says the men's girlfriends gave a starkly different account.

The Indianapolis Star reports reports the women told authorities 49-year-old David Carrender threatened to kill everyone in the house before the shooting his son. Carrender is charged with murder in the death Sunday of his 19-year-old son, Wyatt Carrender.

Morgan County Coroner Annette Rohlman says the teenager was shot six times, once fatally in the chest. Carrender appeared for an initial hearing Wednesday and was being held without bond Friday at the Morgan County Jail. He is scheduled to be assigned an attorney next week.
