More on Officer-Involved Shooting West of Downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne police officer has shot a man who was reportedly running from police.

Fort Wayne police are saying that officers were investigating a stolen vehicle. At about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, they were at a Marathon gas station on Spring Street and received information that led them to a home on Third Street near Schilling Avenue.

When they arrived, the suspect ran from the home and east on Third. The man would not stop when asked to by an officer, who also reportedly noticed the suspect had a handgun.

When the suspect refused to drop the weapon when asked, the officer shot the suspect. Our partners in news at 21Alive reported earlier that the suspect was hit in the knee. The suspect is being treated at a local hospital and is listed in good condition.
