Muncie Judge Faces State Disciplinary Charges

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A Muncie City Court judge is facing 13 disciplinary charges filed by the state commission that oversees judicial conduct.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications filed the charges Thursday against Judge Dianna Bennington. The charges against her include abuse of judicial power, repeated violations of statutes and court rules and injudicious public conduct.

Bennington, who has been a judge since 2012, has 20 days to file a response. A message seeking comment was left Thursday for Bennington at the court by The Associated Press.

The Indiana Supreme Court can appoint three masters to conduct a public hearing or allow the commission and Bennington to submit a settlement agreement. Any agreement or decision by the masters must be approved by the Indiana Supreme Court.
