Muncie Southside Marks Final Commencement

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ Muncie Southside's graduates stayed largely upbeat as they took part in their high school's final graduation ceremony.

Some 185 seniors made up the graduating class recognized during the school's 52nd commencement ceremony Tuesday night at Ball State University's Emens Auditorium.

Muncie Southside will be a middle school when classes resume in the fall as Muncie Central becomes the city's sole high school. The district's school board approved the consolidation move in December because of declining enrollment and tight budgets.

The Star Press reports valedictorian Elisha North says it will be sad knowing that Southside will no longer be a high school, but that his school experience was more than the building.
