New Book-Sharing Stations Launch in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Eight new book-sharing stations have debuted around Indianapolis in an effort to combine art and literacy.

The stations are a part of The Public Collection, which was launched Thursday afternoon at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Star reports that the stations were designed by Indiana-based artists and the books are supplied by the Indianapolis Public Library.

Each station is open to the public and free of charge. Residents are able to read or browse at the stations, borrow a book or share it with a friend and return it to any station at his or her convenience.

Stations are located at Monument Circle, the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Eskenazi Health, Horizon House, City Market and on the Cultural Trail.

In Fort Wayne, numerous Little Free Libraries have popped up around town, allowing people to borrow and take books at will from the schoolhouse-shaped boxes.
