New Bridge to Connect IPFW and Ivy Tech

The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning a new bridge over Coliseum Boulevard to connect IPFW and Ivy Tech.

The pedestrian bridge will be finished in the next two years and feature a concrete deck and assorted light fixtures. The goal is to create an alternative walkway to the underground Rivergreenway route that extends beneath Coliseum Blvd. There have been problems in the past with flooding along Rivergreenway, making it impossible to pass through.

The bridge is partially funded by the federal government will cost an estimated $4.5 million. Engineering Resources is overseeing the main design, a company known for Willis Family Bridge and the Ron Venderly Family Bridge.

The walkway will be ready for pedestrians by summer 2016.
