New Haven council could abolish city court

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): There may not be a city court in New Haven for much longer.

A proposal to abolish the court will go before the New Haven City Council Tuesday night, according to the Journal Gazette. Details about the proposal are slim, with Councilman Floyd Ball only telling the paper it has something to do with a conflict with state law.

The move comes after city court Judge Geoff Robison was charged with misconduct by a state panel after he allowed the processing of certain cases without the Allen County Prosecutor’s authorization, as well as allowing juveniles to resolve cases through a deferral program.
