Woman Facing Charges after Leaving Infant in a Trash Bin

MISHAWAKA, Ind.  (WOWO): The Granger woman that left an infant in a dumpster over the weekend is now facing charges. 32-year-old Purvi Patel is facing charges of feticide after officers discovered the body of her newborn child in a dumpster behind a restaurant.

Patel showed up at the hospital late Saturday night for treatment having just given birth—but no baby was present–and that sparked a massive search.

Feticide is defined as a person who knowingly or intentionally terminates pregnancy with an intention other than to produce live birth. The charge comes with up to 20 years in prison.
