FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): North Side High School announced its new nickname “The Legends” in December. Now, it has a new logo.
The high school unveiled its new logo on Monday afternoon.
In 2015, Fort Wayne Community Schools decided to change the school’s nickname from “The Redskins” because it might be offensive to some Native Americans. The new mascot and logo will be used starting in the 2016-2017 school year.
Students at North Side had the chance to choose from four different mascots this year. The final four choices were the Falcons, Legends, Night Hawks and Raptors.
The final four was determined after a preliminary vote in December.
Students voted through their school email.
Goshen High School also changed their mascot from the Redskins to the RedHawks in 2015.
