Northern Indiana Homeowner Erects Barricades to Protect Home

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana homeowner has placed several 1.5-ton concrete blocks in front of the house to protect it.

David Fore tells The Elkhart Truth (http://bit.ly/1NDkNUq) he put the blocks in front of his home after the Indiana Department of Transportation said it would not install a guardrail.

He had the blocks installed after a car last year rammed a parked car in front of the home, shoving it through the front door and causing heavy damage. Fore says other incidents have resulted in damage to five grills, a riding lawnmower and a septic system.

INDOT spokeswoman Nichole Hacha-Thomas said the agency is investigating the placement of the barricades to see if they are in the public right of way.
