INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A National Weather Service meteorologist says northern Indiana might have dodged the worst of an oncoming storm, but the southern third of the state could have a rough evening.
 
  Indianapolis Chief Meteorologist Dan McCarthy said Thursday afternoon that the biggest threats to Indiana from the massive storm system pounding Middle America have shifted to a region southeast of a line from Evansville through Bloomington to Shelbyville.
 
  McCarthy says the area from Indianapolis north likely will see only rain and hail. He expected the main cold front to pass through southern Indiana Thursday evening. After the cold front passes, temperatures should drop from the upper 70s into the 40s.
 
  He said the main threats are possible tornadoes and winds as strong as 70 mph.
