Officials Launch Text-to-911 for Verizon Wireless Customers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As of today, Verizon Wireless customers are able to text 911 centers across the state for emergency assistance. The Indiana State 911 Board along with Fort Wayne/Allen County 911 say it's a major move forward in promoting public safety. Three other carriers have also committed to providing the service. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants all other wireless carriers to provide text-to-911 by the end of the year.
