COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOWO)— The Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) has once again secured national accreditation through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP), a recognition of the agency’s commitment to disaster preparedness and public safety.

EMAP accreditation is a voluntary, peer-reviewed process that evaluates emergency management agencies against 73 national standards. These include planning, training, coordination, and operational readiness.

“This recognition reflects the tireless work and dedication of our team,” said Ohio EMA Executive Director Sima Merick. “We remain focused on collaboration and the safety of our residents.”

Ohio EMA has held accredited status since 2008, placing the state among national leaders in emergency response and resilience.

The achievement ensures continued collaboration across local, state, and federal partners — with the goal of a stronger, faster response when disasters strike.
