Ohio GOP Incumbent Reports $2.75M More for 2016 Campaign

CINCINNATI (AP) _ Ohio's Republican senator's campaign says it has added $2.75 million in the first three months of this year, giving Rob Portman more than $8 million on hand for the 2016 race.

The campaign's announcement Thursday came after it said earlier this week it has lined up 190 campaign chairpeople covering all 88 Ohio counties. They joined hundreds of earlier-announced Ohio Republican endorsers of Portman that include the governor and the rest of the Republican statewide and congressional officeholders.

Portman has no primary opponent so far, but is considered likely to face a hotly contested general election battle in the swing state.

Former Gov. Ted Strickland and Cincinnati councilman P.G. Sittenfeld are running on the Democratic side. They haven't yet reported totals for the quarter just ended.
